Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umaru Radda, has congratulated two students from Government College Funtua for their outstanding performance at the 2026 I-Fest² Projects Competition held in Tunisia.

The students, Abdullahi Sani Matoya and Abubakar Abdullahi, alongside their teacher, Malam Yazid Ahmed, secured the position of second overall best in the Environmental Science category, competing against participants from across the world.

In a statement issued on Sunday by his Chief Press Secretary, the governor described the achievement as a clear indication that ongoing education reforms in the state are yielding positive results.

“This achievement proves that our education reforms are bringing real results. Our young people have the talent and innovation to compete with the best in the world,” Radda said.

He commended the students for bringing pride to both Katsina State and Nigeria, noting that their success reflects the value of investing in quality education.

The I-Fest² 2026 competition, organised by the Association for the Future of Sciences and Technology, featured over 1,200 students and 450 projects from about 40 countries. The event, now in its 17th edition, is regarded as a major platform for showcasing innovation among young scientists globally.

Radda also praised the role of their teacher in guiding the students to success and encouraged other students to strive for excellence.

He added that sponsoring participation in such international competitions is part of the state government’s broader commitment to developing future leaders through education.

The statement was signed by Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor.
